Gouache heightened with gold on paper, the folio decorated with elegant dense gold and polychrome illumination arranged in a series of rectangular bands each with different complex floral and arabesque interlace, the central rectangle with inscription band above and below giving the name and titles of Muzaffar al-Din Shah Qajar, and Mirza 'Ali Khan Amin al-Dawla, the cream borders left plain

The inscriptions here read:

dar 'ahd-e dawlat-e abad moddat-e shahanshah-e islam panah abu'l-nasr wa'l-zafar al-sultan al-'adil muzaffar al-din shah qajar khallada allah mulkahu

'On the order of His Excellency, the Most Noble, the Excellent, the Most Fortunate, the Greatest, the Aqa of the Aqa, Mirza 'Ali Khan Amin al-Dawla, Sadr-e 'Azam of the Exalted State of Iran

In the reign of the everlasting fortune of the Islam Sheltering Shahanshah, 'Abu'l-Nasr wa'l-Zafar, the Just Sultan, Muzaffar al-Din Shah Qajar, may God perpetuate his Kingdom'.

Mirza 'Ali Khan was entitled Amin al-Dawlah in AH 1299/1881-82 AD and died in AH 1322/1913-14 AD. A companion to Nasir al-Din Shah, he held numerous high and ministerial posts and rose to become Prime Minister under Muzaffar al-Din Shah in AH 1314/1896 AD.
