A SOUTH INDIAN IVORY HILTED DAGGER (KHANJARLI)
VIZIANAGRAM, ANDHRA PRADESH, 18TH CENTURY
The strongly recurved tapering watered steel blade with reinforced tip and pronounced medial ridge, the plain ivory-faced hilt of typical form, the knuckleguard cast on the exterior with dragon head finial, the sheath covered with red gold-embroidered silk and with silver chape decorated in repoussé with floral meander terminating in curved bird's head finial
