A SAFAVID TINNED COPPER BOWL
IRAN, DATED AH 1055/1676-77 AD
Rising from short slightly spreading foot to rounded body with slightly everted rim, the body engraved with a main register depicting stories from the Khamsa of Nizami including Layla and Majnun and Khosraw and Shirin, the rim with a band of nasta'liq, minor floral bands above and below, a band of reciprocal palmettes around the foot, slight rubbing, tinning almost entirely lacking
10 7/8in. (27.6cm.) diam.
