SIGNED HASAN WAHBI, OTTOMAN TURKEY, DATED RAMADAN AH [1]281/JANUARY-FEBRUARY 1865 AD
Arabic manuscript on paper, 301ff. plus two fly-leaves, each folio with 15ll. of black naskh in text panels outlined in gold, black and red, gold roundel verse markers, catchwords, sura headings in white naskh on gold panels, sajada and juz' marked with gold and polychrome floral medallions in the margins, opening bifolio with gold and polychrome illumination surrounding cusped cartouches containing sura al-fatiha and the beginning of sura al-baqara in clouds reserved against gold ground, colophon similarly illuminated and stating that it was copied by Hasan Wahbi min talamidh al-sayyid Isma'il Naguib, in brown morocco with flap and gilt stamped floral medallions and spandrels
