A MOTHER-OF-PEARL AND TORTOISESHELL INLAID CHEST
OTTOMAN TURKEY, 18TH CENTURY
Of rectangular form on raised legs with curved spandrels and hinged coffered lid, the surface covered in inlaid mother-of-pearl and tortoiseshell panels in diamond and triangular geometric shapes, lid with cartouche, spandrels and central floral medallion, edges with band of ivory inlay, interior with fragments of satin and papier maché lining internal covered box, lock and knob on front, some damage to interior lining and small perforation on underside
12½ x 7 7/8 x 9½in. (31.7 x 20.1 x 24.2cm.)
