OTTOMAN TURKEY, DATED AH 1229/1814-15 AD
Turkish manuscript on paper, vertical format, with a large gold tughra above 7ll. of red and green diwani on gold-speckled ground issuing small gold-speckled arabesques into the right hand margin, the lines of script alternated with bands of gold cintamani and small roundels, a further line of red diwani above on similar gold-speckled ground and a line below with a red signature in a pomegranate-shaped gold panel, a few later notes to the reverse, old crease lines and slight rubbing

Lot Essay

This firman states that the secretary of the Imperial Armoury, Ahmad Beg was appointed to the post of Director of the Imperial Armoury following the death of Othman bin Mahmud. Because of his service and loyalty Ahmad Beg was honoured with the title Farashat.
