Two similar enamelled gold circular pendants are published. One in a private collection also has the hinged compartment on the reverse (Maroc, les trésors du royaume, Paris, 1999, no.328, p.189); the other has a more geometric design and is now in the Musée des Oudaias in Rabat (Francis Ramirez and Christian Rolot, Bijoux du Maroc, la Beauté des Diables, Courbevoie (Paris), 2002, p.278) A similar tazra was sold in these Rooms, 17 April 2007, lot 332. For an informative photograph illustrating how these pendants and other items of traditional Moroccan jewellery were worn, see V. Gonzalez, Gli smalti dell'europa musulmana e del Maghreb, Milan, 1994, pl. 138, p. 185.
