A similar bowl is in the Al-Sabah Collection, Kuwait (Glass from Islamic Lands, London, 2001, cat.108c). It is decorated with the same verses from the Qur'an and attributed to Northern India on the basis that it was reportedly found in New Delhi. The glass and the cutting technique suggest an English, or European origin for the bowl.
