This shield bears a blue painted crest on its red cloth lining composed of a blue coronet over the letter 'C', possibly related the Swedish crown. A similar cleaver is published and discussed in length in Persian Steel, The Tanavoli Collection (James Allan & Brian Gilmour, Oxford, 2000, Butcher's implements, pp.328-30).
