The Egyptian Constitution is a set of basic principles governing the State's authorities and political Law; they are set to serve the rights of the rulers and the ruled, religious and political practices, partisan life and social justice.
In his work, Kareem Al-Qurity is in search for the relationship between the people and their country's Constitution. He wants to clarify how close is the relationship between the true application of the written text of the Constitution, with the behaviors and attitudes of people in the community.
He is also trying to find out whether people develop a series of unwritten codes and rules and if so how these invented rules are reflected in their daily practices as a safe haven to ensure the circumvention of the Constitution while the text remain locked into the paper that it's written on.
People and the Constitution theme is an extension of the Artist's previous project/body of work "Safe Haven ", which expressed the idea of people's inner feelings about self-security in Egypt.
The artist's project "People & the Constitution" was exhibited at the Cairo International Biennial in 2010.
