The bust is probably a furniture fitting.
This is only the third depiction of Antinous known to have been discovered in the UK. The first was found in Littlecote, Wiltshire, cf. Walters and Henig, Britannia, 1988, pp. 407-410 and Henig, The Art of Roman Britain, 1995, p. 70-71, ill. 39. The second was unearthed in Capel St Mary, Suffolk (PAS ESS-B3977O).
