Interestingly, a bureau à cylindre of identical dimension and description was sold in the 1895 sale of Beurdeley's atelier. While the Beurdeley family purchased a number of pieces from the landmark auction, designated in the catalogue with the letter 'B', this similar (if not the same) bureau was purchased by a member of the Rothschild family.

For a note on Jean-Henri Riesener's bureau à cylindre, please see lot 208.
