Raised on four shallow ruyi-head feet, the deep, slightly flared sides well carved in shallow relief to the exterior with a band of interlocking archaistic dragons interrupted by a pair of chrysanthemum sprig handles suspending loose rings below each of the full blossoms, the translucent stone of an even pale tone with very minor caramel inclusions

This type of vessel is known as a 'marriage' bowl, and such bowls, with their carefully chosen auspicious decoration were popular at the Imperial Qing court. The present bowl is exceptional for the translucency of its stone, one of the fundamental qualities which the Qing carvers sought to emphasize.
