The tapering tablets with a central raised rib and carved with a tall central jagged rock surrounded by and raising from crashing crested waves, all below a Daoist star map, the stone of an even dark green tone

Lot Essay

A single large dark green jade gui from The Palace Museum, Beijing is illustrated in, Jadeware (III), The Complete Collection of Treasures of The Palace Museum, Hong Kong 1995, p. 153 & 154, no. 123.

The current lot is not only larger in length and width, but the thickness is a remarkable 4 cm., as opposed to the example in The Palace Collection mentioned above which is 1.1 cm. thick.
