Lot Essay

The current cup is representative of the 11th month of the Chinese lunar calendar, usually identified by the flowering prunus shrub growing from rocks amongst bamboo and narcissus.
The inscription reads:
Suyuan xuening shu, qingxiang feng manzhi, which may be translated as 'The prunus blossom is pure like snow on the tree, Its subtle fragrance is like a breeze amongst its branches'.
