Based on a German renaissance model, on stepped circular foot, with flaring cup, the cover with baluster finial, all engraved with strapwork, the cover inset with an enamel coat-of-arms and the date 1561, marked on base, also marked 19077/48, REPRODUCTION ORIGINAL AUGSBURG 2ND HALF OF THE 16TH CENTURY, ORIGINAL IN THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART IN SILVER GILT

This cup and cover is a copy after the original late 16th-century silver-gilt example by Augsburg goldsmith David Cramer (d. 1595) in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (acc. no. 93.2a,b).
