For a tea canister of similar form dated 1737 see Louis L. Lipski and Michael Archer, Dated English Delftware, London, 1984, p. 342, no. 1516. See also the tea canister dated 1743 and painted in a similar style the present example also from the Longridge Collection, sold Christie's, London, 10-11 June 2010, lot 1142. The Old Testament subject is seen on tiles from Liverpool and London which appear to share a similar graphic source to the present example, see Anthony Ray, English Delftware Tiles, London, 1973, pp. 116-7, pl. 3, no. 21 and Jonathan Horne, English Tin-Glazed Tiles, London, 1989, p. 77, no. 443.
