Lot Essay

S.J. Gudlaugsson (op.cit.), dates the present lot to circa 1670. He regards it as a studio version, with slight differences, probably partly autograph, after the painting by Ter Borch that was with Van Diemen in 1925 (op.cit., p. 88, no. 67, ill.).
