AN URBINO BOWL FROM AN ACCOUCHEMENT SET (VASCHETTA DA PARTO)
CIRCA 1570, POSSIBLY FONTANA WORKSHOP
Of bulbous form, the exterior finely painted with four small cameo panels surrounded by grotteschi between elaborate borders, on a spreading circular foot, the base of the interior with a mother sitting on the edge of a canopied bed breast-feeding an infant (crack around half of lower part, very small restored chips to rim and footrim, small minor shallow chip to underside of footrim)
