Lot Essay

The heads of the figures on this group are much more in proportion to the figures than they are on the smaller scale Capodimonte groups.

For another example of this model in the Museo di Capodimonte, Naples, see Francesco Stazzi, l'Arte della Ceramica Capodimonte, Milan, 1972, p. 286, no. 90. A further example was sold in these Rooms on 2nd July 1984, lot 46.
