Kuniyoshi, Kunisada and Hiroshige, oban tate-e
four prints from the series 'Tokaido gojusan tsui' (Fifty Three Parallels for the Tokaido Road) variously depicting figures on balconies and terraces before autumnal, snow covered and river landscapes, stuck down on board.
The main design of the series fluctuates between historical illustration and local legends and customs. The kabuki element is very small. Nineteen of the designs were contributed by Hiroshige and eight by Kunisada.
