Edo Period (18th-19th century)
The pistol of typical form with octagonal barrel decorated in gold and silver nunomezogan with a dragon amongst clouds, the stock and ramrod oak, the serpentine, trigger, lock-plate and pan-cover of brass, maker's stamp on the lock-plate; the doran in lacquered leather, the cover with a hi-dokei [sun-clock], written on the top Kaichu hi-dokei [portable sun-clock]
