Château Margaux--Vintage 1996
Margaux, 1er cru classé
"Paul Pontellier expressed a great love of the '96 vintage, picked after the rains in order to let the fruit ripen completely. It is produced from 85 - 87 Cabernet, since the Merlot did not fare as well in the rains. The wine is richly aromatic, with red berry aromas colored with an earthy, deep undercurrent with hints of lead pencil, cedar, and smoke. On the palate the wine is firm and tannic, with fresh acidity and very nice length." CC, June 2010.
