LAFITE ROTHSCHILD
Of the vintages offered here, the 1988 standout was described by Charles Curtis, MW, as "undeniably great possess[ing] of a marvelous balance and great elegance. Of the younger wines, 2001 will go down as a classic vintage on the left bank and the wines are just approaching a lovely drinking plateau.
Château Lafite-Rothschild--Vintage 1988
Pauillac, 1er cru classé
Levels: into neck
"The 1988 Lafite shows notes of currant and cedar on the nose with an attractive floral note, a hint of smoke and a slight note of tobacco. On the palate, the wine is firmly textured but showing supple tannic structure, great balance and a lingering finish. Very nice." At Christie's. CC, April 2010.
