拍品專文

After many years of close collaboration between Pierre et Gilles as creators, and Fred as one of their talismanic models, it is clear that the young man has successfully learned how to metamorphose to the couple's will while conveying a wide range of moods as a photographic subject far beyond his evident capacity to be shown as a sensual object.

As a whole, the image radiates a warm immediacy that has been rarely reproduced in another Pierre et Gilles. This feature cannot be considered as a negative appreciation in relation to the gaudy values in the rest of their work. Better yet, it decidedly shows some sort of a very personal indulgence from the artists in the form of a stylistic concession. The picture of Fred rises above their "average" works because the excessive saturation of decorative elements remains absent in favor of the portrayed subject. This way, Fred may constitute a kind of declaration of artistic principles that echoes the vocation of Pierre et Gilles as the beautiful people's photographers and as master explorers of the human physique.
