Lot Essay

"Les Naufragés" features a group of sleepy young boys lying on the shore. In their faces they show the unmistakable peacefulness and serenity of someone who has overcome tragedy. Youthfully vigorous, their bodies confirm no sign of injury or fatigue. Nevertheless the message turns out to be as ambivalent as unsettling. Do they long for the harbor they left behind? Do they dream of the Promised Land? Are they all resting after a long journey? Or pehaps they are all sleeping quietly the eternal dream...
