Salim Kéchiouche is a young French actor, born in Lyon. The present image is one of the various portraits his fellows Pierre et Gilles have made ofhim throughout their career. A prominent figure among indie-French cinema, Kéchiouche may be considered also as a rising star within the world of theater and television in his native country.
A former national kick-boxing and Thai-boxing champion, the actor was first "discovered" when he was 15 years old, by director Gaël Morel, who introduced him to cinema in the 1996 feature film A toute vitesse. From that film on, the French-Arab star has been under the guidance of some of the most celebrated European movie directors, often playing gay or bisexual troubled characters. But it was not until his collaboration with cult-director Fançois Ozon, in Les amants criminels, when he achieved notoriety from both movie-critics and fanatics alike.
