GENEVA OR HANAU, CIRCA 1785, MAKER'S MARK M & P CROWNED, LATER STRUCK WITH TWO PARISIAN POST-1838 RESTRICTED WARRANTY MARKS FOR GOLD
oval box, the cover, sides and base enamelled in concentric alternate bands of translucent lime-green and dark green scattered with gold quatrefoils enamelled in red and with applied gold scrollwork, within opaque white enamel frames, the cover centred by an applied oval enamel miniature depicting a young lady before an altar of love, with a seed-pearl border, the sablé gold borders on cover and base with seed-pearls set within chased foliage heightened with green enamel
