A late Victorian silver-mounted carriage timepiece
of typical form, on fluted bun feet and with a swing scrolling foliate handle and white-enamelled dial with black Roman numerals, the mounts die-stamped with flowers, strapwork and scrolling foliage, one side with an owl, the other side with a crowing cockrel, the two birds presumably symbolising the passage of time, the hinged back plate with vacant C-scroll cartouche, Gibson & Langman, London 1897 - 4in.
