An American 19th Century ewer
of vase shape and with a scroll handle decorated with friezes of flower heads, the part spiral-fluted body with four lobes, each bright-cut and frosted in the aesthetic taste, one with a kingfisher within a roundel border, another with an insect within a geometric and foliate border, the last with a swallow in flight within a foliate border, the tapering neck with reeded knurled band and moulded rim, with inscription dated 19th. April 1877, Gorham - 8¾in. (22.25cm.), 37.50oz.
