With a projecting molded cornice and a pierced sound fret above ormolu-mounted pilasters, the silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals, seconds hand dial and date aperture, the five knopped pillar movement with hour strike on bell, anchor escapement, the case with rectangular door, box plinth, later skirting

Lot Essay

Charles Goode was made a Free Brother in the Clockmakers Company in 1686. He is thought to have died in 1730. Longcase clocks by him are illustrated in Derek Roberts, British Longcase Clocks, Schiffer, 1990, p. 34, fig. 42 and p. 167, fig. 166.
