Saint-Joseph, Les Granits--Vintage 2003
Rhône. French-bottled: Chapoutier
Tasting note: Mineral-dominated with surprisingly fine acidity for the vintage is the dense purple-colored 2003 St.-Joseph Les Granits (600 cases). A glorious bouquet of spring flowers, blackberries, raspberries, crushed rocks, and truffles is followed by a dense, full-bodied, powerful, tannic, backward St.-Joseph. Give it 2-3 years of cellaring and drink it over the following two decades. 93 points. Robert Parker, Wine Advocate #163, February 2006
