(Light spotting on title and a few other leaves, occasional light finger soiling.) Original light blue cloth with pictorial design on upper cover blocked in a darker blue and gilt (corners bumped, inner hinges split). Provenance: W.J. van Hoogstraten (bookseller's ticket) -- Julian Renworf (inscription dated July 1944).

FIRST DELUXE EDITION in blue moiré cloth binding. The front cover is decorated with a repeat of the vignette on p. 35 and was never used again in any other edition. RARE ON THE MARKET, only one copy recorded on ABPC on-line in the last 14 years. Quinby 9; Linder, p. 425.
