'ALL BABIES LOOK LIKE ME ...'. Apparently the earliest known photograph of Churchill. His father, Lord Randolph Churchill, was the third son of the 7th Duke of Marlborough, his mother, Jennie Jerome, the daughter of a wealthy New York financier: 'At this time, it was virtually unprecedented for the son of a leading aristocrat to marry an American' (ODNB). Winston was born prematurely on 30 November 1874, only 7½ months after their marriage.
