QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
Of characteristic cylindrical shape with one side bevelled, the first carved in shallow relief to depict a horse under a willow tree; the second with a pair of recumbent rams on one side and the other carved with the double-happiness character, xi; the third, similarly carved with a double-happiness character and a deer with its head raised, looking up at a bat in flight; the fourth with a mythical beast perched on rockwork; and the fifth with a phoenix standing under a wutong tree, the russet colour enhanced
