A FINELY CARVED MUGHAL-STYLE CELADON JADE ZHADOU AND COVER
QING DYNASTY, 18TH/19TH CENTURY
The small leys jar finely carved with a compressed globular lower section bordered by acanthus leaf bands, rising to a widely everted foliated neck and mouth carved as twelve upright veined stylised lotus leaves, each connected to the body with a leafy stem suspending a loose ring and inlaid with ruby-coloured stones, all resting on a lotus lappet base centered by a large flowerhead, the slightly domed conforming cover carved with radiating lotus leaves around a central floriform handle inlaid with sapphire and ruby stones, the highly polished stone of characteristic translucent pale celadon colour with few natural inclusions and streaks
