With a fitted winding key.

The firm of Rundell and Bridge, silversmiths to the crown, became Rundell, Bridge and Rundell in 1805 when the founder Phillip Rundell took on his nephew as a partner. The company became widely regarded as one of the most important silver businesses in England, eventually opening agencies in such cities as Vienna, St. Petersburg, Calcutta and as far away as South America.

The armorials chased on the case of the present watch indicate that this would have most likely have been a gift to or a special order by the Dowager Countess of Berkeley. Mary Cole, the Countess, married Frederick Augustus Berkeley, the 5th Earl of Berkeley, on May 16, 1796. They were married until his death in 1810 and had twelve children together.
