Représenté debout, ses jambes multiples en alidhasana sur des divinités et animaux reposant sur un lotus, les mains principales tenant le karttrika et le kapala, les autres trente-deux bras rayonnant autour, ses nombreux visages surmontés de flammes hirsutes, traces de pigments et de dorure

Lot Essay

This extremely fine sculpted figure of Vajrabhairava represents the wrathful manifestation of the God of Wisdom, Manjushri. Vajrabhairava, the destroyer of ignorance and fear of death, is one of the principal Yidams of the dGe.lugs.pa, the Tibetan Buddhist order that was favoured at the Qing court.
