FINE BORDEAUX FROM A WINE PROFESSIONAL

A selection of fine, aged claret from a wine professional. These wines were bought on release and kept in temperature and humidity control until this sale.
LAFITE

The name Lafite comes from the Gascon language term "la hite", which means "hillock". The estate is situated at the northern end of Pauillac, close to Cos d'Estournel which is just over the border in St.-Estephe. The vineyard consists of three major areas: the hillsides around the Château, the adjacent Carruades plateau to the west, and 4.5 hectares in neighboring Saint Estephe (which is entitled to the Pauillac appellation).

Lafite is renowned for its finesse and subtlety and is often considered as more accessible young than a Chteau Latour or Mouton Rothschild, as Stephen Brook in his book, The Complete Bordeaux summarized; "for elegance choose Lafite."

"A pale garnet hue, the '66 Lafite was marvelously scented with a pronounced curranty fruit at first, that was followed in time as the bouquet opened with hints of licorice and cedar. The nose was very pure, delicate, and fine and maintained a very fresh and youthful character. On the palate the texture was silken and subtle, with sufficient body and structure to support their glorious aromatic charge.", CC, September 2009
