The design of the present watch follows closely in the footsteps of the master's, Abraham Louis Breguet's design for a Souscription watch. This close adherence may lead us to conclude that this piece is possibly the work of one of his students.

The unique idea of the Souscription watch was first conceived by Abraham Louis Breguet in 1794 during the French Revolution as a method to remain financially stable. A buyer could make a down payment of 25 livres for a watch of a limited series with the balance due upon delivery. In this manner Breguet watches became more accessible and the advance payments helped finance the development of his other projects.
