Brass movement with chain fusée, later rectangular gilt box, engine-turned four side panels and base with foliate motif and reed design, four corners with pink gilt rosettes, engine-turned cover with silvered and gilt applied birds to each side, gilt rosettes, floral motif around the rim and surrounding the bezel, bezel with geometric design, hinged center with translucent red guilloché enamel, set with a silvered, yellow and pink gilt landscape and lake motif, two ships with white enamel sails, five gilt diamond-set stars in the sky, bird activated through a slide in the front side panel, opening the flap and releasing the mechanism of the colourfully plumed singing bird rotating on its axis, flapping its wings, turning its head and opening its beak
