FIRST EDITION with hand-colored plates of Javanese life and costume. One of the most important books on Java to this day, of which only 900 copies were printed. Many of the plates, including the hand-coloured costume plates, are by William Daniell who visited the island in 1785 and 1793. Abbey Travel 554.
