FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY inscribed on the title: "Presented to Her Imperial Majesty the Empress Mother, Empress of all the Russias, as a mark of profound respect, from the Author." A superb association copy. Alexandra Feodorovna (born Princess Charlotte of Prussia), became Empress-Consort upon her husband's accession as Czar Nicholas I in December, 1825. Her son Czar Alexander II was born in 1818. She died in 1860 at the Alexander Palace in Tsarskoe Selo.
