4o (281 x 220 mm). Folding map and 10 engraved plates (one folding). (Some minor offsetting.) 19th-century diced russia, decorated in gilt and in blind, edges gilt (rebacked). Provenance: Alexandra Feodorovna (1798-1860), Princess Charlotte of Prussia and Empress Consort of Russia, wife of Tsar Nicholas I (presentation inscription from the author).

FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY inscribed on the title: "Presented to Her Imperial Majesty the Empress Mother, Empress of all the Russias, as a mark of profound respect, from the Author." A superb association copy. Alexandra Feodorovna (born Princess Charlotte of Prussia), became Empress-Consort upon her husband's accession as Czar Nicholas I in December, 1825. Her son Czar Alexander II was born in 1818. She died in 1860 at the Alexander Palace in Tsarskoe Selo.
