Inlaid overall with engraved flowers and interlaced strapwork, the rectangular top with moulded egg-and-dart rim above a pair of frieze drawers over six further drawers around and behind a kneehole, on eight square tapering legs joined by two linked X-stretchers, on flattened bun feet

Although the generic name for these bureaux implies that cardinal Mazarin owned at least one example he apparantly never posessed one, he did place an order for the first desk of this type with Pierre Gole which was then supplied to Louis XIV.
