With a removable tole drip tray, the backboards with a small kite-shaped shadow probably for a brass registration plate, possibly reduced in height

An oak hall stand of this form, with a brass registration plate for the year 1882, was sold Christie's, London, 18 September 2003, lot 120. A closely related model with the stamp of James Shoolbred & Co. sold in these Rooms, July 28, 2009, lot 355.
