Of one piece, with high roped comb and narrow downturned brim rising to a point fore and aft and with turned roped rim, the skull encircled with lining rivets, some retaining decorative brass rosette-shaped washers, and later applied brass plume holder, the whole with later etched decoration against a granular ground, that on the comb comprising scrollwork and that on the skull comprising diamond-shaped panels each containing stylised elements of armour, the brim decorated with foliage
