Lot Essay

The present pair of centre-pieces closely relate to examples by Pierre-Philippe Thomire at Schloss Haimhausen and Badisches Landesmuseum, Karlsruhe (illustrated in H. Ottomeyer and P.Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, vol. I, Munich, 1986, p. 312, Pl. XLIV and p.389, fig. 5.16.18, respectively).
