STUTTGART, CIRCA 1820, PROBABLY AFTER A DESIGN BY NICOLAUS VON THOURET
The circular black marble top above a plain fireze and a concave-sided column-carved ventral stem, above a circualr spreading foliate-carved socle amd acanthus-carved feet with brass castors, stencilled '11636' and '11638', inscribed in red crayon 'L.162' and with paper label printed 'Krongut', further inscribed in pencil
30¾ in. (78 cm.) high; 43½ in. (110.5 cm.) diameter
Provenance
Almost certainly delivered circa 1820 for the refurbished apartments of William I of Württemberg at the Stadtschloss Stuttgart and thence by descent.
