Lot Essay

In terms of style and composition the present group bears some similarities to the group of Two Putti with a Goat by Giuseppe Piamontini, a bronze version of which is in the Palazzo Corsini, Rome (Vienna, Liechtenstein Museum, Baroque Luxury Porcelain - The Manufactories of du Paquier in Vienna and of Carlo Ginori in Florence, 10 Nov. 2005 - 29 Jan. 2006, J. Kräftner ed., no. 308). The quality and finish of the present group of Autumn and Winter is, however, much more comparable to Gaspero Bruschi's porcelain interpretation of Piamontini's afore-mentioned group, an example of which is in the Museo Civico d'Arte Antica, Turin (ibid, no. 309.).
