Lot Essay

A SUMPTUOUS BINDING, POSSIBLY FOR PRESENTATION, FROM ARGUABLY THE GREATEST PERIOD OF ENGLISH BINDING. The design is reminiscent of the work of "Queen's binder A," but we have been unable to match any of the tools. A pencil note on the front free endpaper attributes the binding to Mearns.
